Today we were extremely busy, as one can see from the timetable that only one half-an-hour break was arranged from 7:40 to 15:10!! As we did so many things I feel that I cannot write everything here. Only the things I found most memorable will be recorded here.
As long as I met Elizabeth I presented my hand made London Tower Bridge model to her, and she liked it very, very much! I was especially delighted when Elizabeth encountered envious looks from her friends, 'Wow, your buddy's gift? That's so nice!!!!'
Their morning assembly was an engaging and inspiring event. I found myself immersed in the breathtaking melody of Singapore's National Anthem. The Victorian anthem was, sorry, less attractive to the ear but similarly strong in message. Then a video was played. Probably produced by the graduating batch of seniors, the video showed the history of VJC, its scenery today, and photos of all the exciting sports and activities Victorians have participated in the last year. As I watched my heart pounded excitedly as if I were just a 100% Victorian! I am proud of the school and really wish to be a part of it.
After hearing they were going to have a holiday which begins next Friday, a huge number of students rushed to the centre of the hall and spontaneously began a special form of celebration. They clapped their hands at exactly the same time and shouted words of joy. Cheerful are Victorians!!!
The next great part of today is how I tried to be a part of our class's learning experience. I am very grateful that my lovely buddy asked me so many questions in chemistry. she had been so good a friend and I was willing to help her as much as I could, and she understood what I said super quickly!! After the class, I also discussed with the chemistry teacher, Ms Lee, on whether the oxidation number of S in S2O8（2-） should be +6 or +7. I managed to convince her that +6 was more reasonable, and that felt amazing:). I received a warm 'thank you' from her.
Lastly I would like to say that I love my buddy so much! She's cute, friendly, and full of positive energy. She is the best buddy I can ever imagine (no need hedging here haha). I really hope she will be enrolled in NUS sooner or later so that our story of learning together can go on and on!!

Reflection on Thursday by Wang Haina
After so many days in VJC I feel that I really love to be a Victorian~~ The school is excellent in academic performance and full of energy. Though I am older than my buddy and her friends, I think I have a lot to learn from their classes.
In the morning we had a class meeting. It was a sweet surprise to see that my buddy is such an active figure that she and a friend from SM1 briefed the class on a volunteer project called Sunlove, and organised a brainstorming to discuss how they could help make the elderly happy. Their briefing procedure highly resembled talks held by MOE!!!
Next they had economy lecture on elasticity of demand! The teacher was very logic in her development of ideas and I understood it well.
Then, in the economy tutorial, the class sadly had to take a test. A first glimpse of the paper was enough to shock me. The first question was: Describe why is scarcity a problem for Bill Gates. I did not even know what scarcity mean in the context of economy! Does it refer to resources? Or capital? Or manpower? Or all of them? Anyway, I didn't think Bill Gates is short of any of them. I decided not to look at the paper and get trouble making sense of the questions. So I continued my chemistry book translation...
Then the physics lecture was about distance and displacement. I had listened to the similar content for at least 3 times. So I did not really pay attention to what the lecturer was saying... However, the physics tutorial that followed was great fun. The teacher, Ms Ng, spent 10 minutes to explain why 'resultant velocity' and 'the change in velocity' are different things. Before that I had never thought about this question since the two concepts could hardly appear in the same situation. (Hey, if the two velocities occur simultaneously you use the resultant velocity, and if they appear one after another then the change in velocity makes sense...) Therefore, Ms Ng was very helpful in giving me better understanding of basic concepts in physics. I enjoyed her enthusiastic teaching, and her favourite line once 3 minutes, 'Any questions? Any questions? There's no questions, we...'
Lastly we had a tutorial on projects. The beginner was a discussion on 'how might we motivate Reuben so that he can be better at sports?' Reuben is a boy in our class. As expected, the best suggestion coming from his friends is, obviously, to find him a girlfriend!
Later in class, my buddy Elizabeth and I drew little pictures on a piece of paper to show off our cuteness :). Her Chinese handwriting is amazingly beautiful!
I find the atmosphere in VJC open, friendly and playful. Their love for fun and freedom is much stronger than we in SM2. I think if I were given a chance to choose my JC in Singapore, I would definitely choose VJC. But good things are even better if they come in the form of unexpected surprise, and this is exactly the case of my JC visit!

Today is my last day in victoria JC, I
really do not want to leave because Victorians are so nice and friendly. When I
am going to leave, all the friends in class come to take a photo with me. They
give me very deep impression on their kindness and warm-heart. I also go to my
buddy’s home with some friends. We play card games, chat, and watch TV
together. My buddy’s mother brings us traditional Singaporean dessert specially
and it tastes really delicious. We visit my buddy’s house. Her room is quite
cute and his older brother’s room is tidy. Her brother is doing national
service and he is going to come back late tonight, so my buddy buys his favorite
milk tea. In the way to her home, we find that the haze has occupied the
neighborhood and the smell is pretty bad. My buddy complains about the bad
effect of haze that hinders her from going out with friends. I really like this
week in JC. Although I have to get up early at 5:30, I still want to have another
week in victoria. I really appreciate the help from my classmates especially my
buddy. I want to thank everyone in victoria junior college for his or her
kindness. My English also get improved during this week. Thank you, Victorians.

Thursday is my buddy’s birthday. I prepare
a little gift for her. I do not want to just buy something outside; instead I
want to make meaning items on my own. I invite all my SM2 friends in victoria
JC to write a birthday wish on beautiful card. I also write the phrase “happy
birthday” in fifty languages. I think it will meaning for her if she receive
best wishes from all the SM2 students in victoria JC. Since she really tries to
take good care of me, I also hope that this JC immersion can bring happiness
and enjoyment to her. Her friends in secondary school also prepare gifts for
her and her classmates sing birthday song together for her and buy a birthday
cake. We share the cake and share her happiness. My buddy sze leng is really
happy today and she always wears a smile. I hope that our friendship can
continue and she can be happy and optimistic.

Today I take the first PE class in Singaporean.
PE teacher teaches us the standard posture and methods to play Frisbee. The
teacher is very humorous and approachable. My buddy, her friend and I practice
throwing Frisbee together. We are taught to point at other’s bullet button
after we throwing away the Frisbee. It is really a effective way to pass Frisbee
between teammates. At the end of the class, we are divided into four groups and
have a 5 versus 5 competition. I really enjoy the game with all the classmates
of my buddy. It seems that I am also a member of 14S46 rather than merely an
exchange student. This PE class is as unforgettable experience for me because I
feel the warmth from my classmates. In addition, I find that everyone in the
class do participate in the game. It indicates the friendship and union in the
class. I really like the atmosphere of active participation in JC.

Today my buddy has a chemistry practical class and they
do titration in this session. I notice that Singaporean JC pays much attention
on practical skills as they have practical classes after every lecture. When I
am observing their titration operation in chemistry practical class, the
teacher ask me whether I can do this and I say no because there is less
practices in china than Singapore. I am really surprised by how proficient my
buddy is with those apparatus. I think that practice is really necessary for
students to have a deeper and more direct understanding of knowledge. I also
help her to wash the apparatus in laboratory and she teach me how to wash them
and attach them on rack. My buddy is really patient and good-tempered. The
teacher is also very nice to help me do the questionnaire that is aimed on the
stress experienced by JC students. We discuss about the stress on A-level and the
communication with JC teachers really helps me a lot.

I have a lovely and considerate buddy in year one. She
can speak mandarin very well, and she is enthusiastic and hard-working girl.
When we have lectures together, she makes notes earnestly and explains the
fundamental concept to me in Chinese. I really appreciate it that she try her
best to look after me very well although she is younger than me. In addition,
her friends are all very kind and friendly to me so that I feel comfortable to
stay with them. Her CCA is bridge and service learning. She mainly chooses
physics, economics, chemistry and math as her major courses. Another thing that
give deep impression on me is that the whole class of my buddy tends to eat
together during break. They chat with each other and discuss questions. The
harmonious atmosphere reminds me of my senior high school as my roommates and I
also eat lunch together everyday. I am very happy that I have a good beginning
of JC immersion and I will try my best to interact with local students.
