Monday Reflection (Zeng Ni)

First Day in VJC

Zeng Ni

At the moment when I was informed that JC Experiential Programme would occupy my precious recess week, I was very frustrated, because then I would not be able to hang out with my friends or watch dramas in my bedroom after the horrible third check-point, and I would need to get up at 5:30 am, when even the sun is still sleeping. However, after hearing some interesting experiences shared by seniors, my depression has changed into expectation. I wondered what kind of person my buddy would be like, and what the Singaporean students’ school life would be.

I felt really lucky to be arranged to visit Victoria Junior College. Before vising VJC, I have already heard a lot about it. I’ve heard that VJC is among the top five JCs in Singapore, and Victorians are really brilliant. These even made me be more interested in this programme.

Woke up at 5:30 am, which I have never woke up at through my life, and dressed up the skirt that I have not dressed for nearly five years, I started my first day in Victoria Junior College. After being introduced a little about this school, I met my buddy, who is a really outgoing girl and has the same age with me. She is a perfect buddy, but the only barrier is that she speaks too fast, and I cannot really totally understand. Even though she is good at Chinese, she obeyed the rule strictly, and did not speak any Chinese to me. After explaining her timetable to me briefly, she brought me to the first class, physics. Since what she learnt were much easier than the stuffs that I learnt in China when I was in senior 2, the physics lecture sounded really boring to me. However, the good news was that we would have chemistry experiment on the afternoon. I am always excited about experiments. Although I have already done this experiment before, I found the class was still very attractive.

The chemistry experiment was the last class, and school ended really early, at 2:00 pm, and this would never happen in China. In all, this was a good beginning, and I started to enjoy my visit at Victoria Junior College.
