Second Day in VJC
Zeng Ni
Today is not as interesting as the first
day, but I learnt more about Singaporean students’ life in JCs. Today started
with the speeches delivered by the Student Council Nominees. The nominees were
really confident and the audiences were very enthusiasm, and they all highly
participated in this activity. I think this is exactly what Chinese students
need to improve on. Most of the Singaporean students are much more active than
Chinese students (of course including me). The second thing that Singaporean
students do better than us is that they dare to express themselves in the
class, no matter when they come up with new ideas, or have questions, or do not
understand what the teachers are saying. Unlike Chinese students, who prefer to
ask teachers after class, they dare to shout out their thoughts in the class,
and other students always give the warmest applause to the one who raises
questions in the class. Besides these things that we need to learn from Singaporean
students, I found a really strange phenomenon. Students here always have a meal
during their first break, which is at 10:00 am in general, and then they will
not eat lunch any more. This really shocked me, cause this is totally different
from China. At last, about the economy class, economy is the most appealing class
to me, cause we do not have this subject in China. However, I found the
contents are similar with the subject called politics in China, and this made me a little
disappointed. Nevertheless, the economy class was still very interesting, and I
learnt something from it.
